Transformative Trends in Wet Wipe Formulations: A Dual Focus on Skin Health and Sustainability

Natural Preservation Gaining Acceptance & Credibility in the World of Wipes

Consumers continue to demand safer and more sustainable products that fit within a circular economy. This has driven tremendous innovation across the supply chain of all industries and particularly that of the wipes industry. While many wipe products advertise recycled content or 100% natural substrates, their wipe liquor often still contains synthetic, non-circular preservatives and other ingredients. While this is often due to concerns relating to cost and performance, recent innovations are making such concerns a thing of the past. Certainly, robust preservation is one of the most critical elements to consider for any wet wipe formulation. The history of the wet wipes industry unfortunately contains far too many instances of microbial contamination. These avoidable crises have led to product recalls and even serious injury. Newer preservatives and multifunctional ingredients have been proven to provide robust, broad-spectrum protection while also delivering the sustainability required for humanity’s long-term success.

We will present new and innovative preservatives and multifunctionals that provide complete protection against bacteria, yeast and mold. Our testing will include some of the harder-to-kill organisms that have particularly challenged the wet wipe industry through the years. We will demonstrate how these new preservative systems can provide cost-effective and high-performing, 100% natural and sustainable wipe formulations.
