ISO Flushability Update
Australia has developed one of the first national standards on flushability. The standard is framed around ISO technical reference ISO TR 24524:2019 and is based on a combination of GD4, the INDA/EDANA Code of Practice (2018) and the International Water Services Flushability Group Publicly Available Specification. The presentation will outline how the standard was developed, including the approach to gain strong buy in and consensus from both water businesses and manufacturers. The key technical aspects of the standard will be confirmed and rationale for their agreement will be outlined. The presentation will conclude with a view on the need for an international standard and the process by which that can be achieved.
