Eastman Vestera™ Cellulosic Fiber – A New Sustainable Option for Nonwovens
Consumer behaviors and choices are being influenced, more than even before, by awareness and concerns about the sustainability of products. Increasing regulation, social activism, and public perception are driving brand commitments and value chain responses in consumer markets towards development of solutions that embody the principles of a circular economy. Eastman recently developed and commercialized Vestera™ cellulosic fiber for baby/consumer wipes, facial masks, and other high-performance nonwoven hygiene applications. This fiber is produced using renewable cellulose derived from wood pulp, is biodegradable, and delivers enhanced performance such as softness, loft, and pattern resolution. Vestera™ can be easily blended with other fibers, including man-made cellulosic or synthetic fibers, to optimize performance in-use and end-of-life.
